Bethlehem is sponsoring its 15th Annual Chili Fest this weekend. Come join the fun on Saturday April 24th from 11:30am to 4:00 pm. Located in South Bethlehem, the festival will take place on 3rd, 4th, and New streets.

Lehigh Valley Homes with EIFS

EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finishing System) can be a source of problems for a Lehigh Valley Home Buyer or Seller.

Known as synthetic stucco, EIFS was originally used in Europe after World War II to assist in the reconstruction. It was applied on stone, brick, and concrete buildings.  

When introduced to new residential homes in the 1980's, problems started to appear with EIFS because it was being applied over framed wood. This was a major mistake and houses built even today may suffer from a moisture intrusion problem if the EIFS is not installed correctly.

The problem with EIFS is that when water gets behind it the moisture is trapped and wood rot and mold start to occur.
