Buying or Selling a home in Upper Macungie? Is the house connected to the Upper Macungie Sanitary Sewer System?
If so, beware that an Upper Macungie Home Sale will now require a sewer inspection. Surpised? This reminds me of when Hellertown implemented the curb and sidewalk inspection. Neither of these towns requires a Certificate of Occupancy but they do require these specific inspections so the home buyer and seller should be aware of them.
Upper Macungie is attempting to stop the influx of storm water, sump pumps, and other discharge into the system. The Sewer Inspection must be performed by a Master Licensed Plumber who is approved by Upper Macungie Township.
Who pays for any of the required repairs (seller or buyer) is negotiable. If the inspection is not conducted it won't stop the sale of the home but the buyer will bear the responsibility of having it done, plus any repairs, in the future.
Upper Macungie is providing a possible contribution of up to $1000.00 for any required repairs. This is only available for Owner Occupied Properties but the property may still be eligible even if it is being sold.
